Commercial-scale algae production is a rapidly growing industry, with the humble organism serving as a key source of biofuel, fertilizer, and food supplements. Algae Solutions International helped “algaepreneurs” get their businesses off the ground by providing tools for successful project financing for algae farms housed within disadvantaged communities.

The logo represented each element involved in and affected by the algae production process: water, algae, and the community within which it was housed. Showing these as part of a spherical whole implied their cyclical reliance on one another while calling to mind Earth itself. A “spark of life” bursting upward from the base of the sphere represented both the organism's genesis and the company's belief that algae cultivation could reinvigorate the communities where it was farmed.
